Julia Peplum Sweater / Easy Crochet Crop Top 30 Minute Crochet Cowl Video Tutorial solids have 170g per skein while variegated colours have 140g per skein) but no matter what colour way you pick, this pattern still will only use maximum one skein of yarn per scarf, you just might have more or less left over for another project!

One thing to note is that the weight and yardage you get per skein depends on what type of yarn you pick (e.g. If you’ve seen some of my earlier projects, you’ll know that I love super chunky yarn and - Lion Brand’s Wool-Ease Thick & Quick is one of my favourites! This wool-acrylic blend has an amazing shade range (over 80 colours!) with heaps of different finishes from solids to stripes, tweed and variegated. While I loved the look of the vertical ribbing, I found that it sat strangely on the shoulders (kinda like a neck brace haha) so I scraped that idea and switched it around so that the ribbing would fall horizontally.Īlthough, you can work this pattern in horizontal rows instead of rounds I decided to save on sewing by crocheting the cowl in the round and only the ends are left to weave in 🙂 Since this is super chunky yarn, you can see the seam at the back when its lying flat but once you wear the snood and its cuddled up around your neck you can’t even tell it’s there! I toyed with the idea of crocheting a large chunky scarf with tassels (let me know in the comments if you’d like to see a pattern like this 🙂 ) but in the end I decided to keep it simple, quick and easy like the beanie! At first, I crocheted a snood using the same construction as the beanie, working in rows back and forth and then seaming it together for vertical ribbing. The inspiration behind this design was simple, to create a scarf that matched the Arctic Ice Beanie. The simple and elegant design allows you to pair this crochet snood with any outfit and since they’re so quick to crochet, you can make one is every colour! Paired with the One Hour Beanie or by itself, this one skein wonder makes a lovely Christmas gift or a great market item! It’s the ultimate beginner pattern as you don’t need to sew the sides together at the end! As the weather gets colder, this speedy, half hour project is the perfect break from time-consuming blankets and sweaters.

The best part about crocheting in the round is that you can easily try it on as you go and alter this pattern to fit you (although the basic pattern is very forgiving!). This easy crochet cowl literally only takes half and hour to make and only one skein of yarn! The Arctic Ice Snood does have a slightly different construction to the beanie because its crocheted in the round. The Arctic Ice Snood is the sister pattern to the Arctic Ice Beanie! When the Arctic Ice Beanie was released one of you asked me if I could make a matching scarf so here it is! 🙂
